Please join us for worship on the Day of Pentecost, Sunday, May 24. We begin our summer worship schedule with one service at 9am.  It’s going to be both a doozy and a delight! We’ll share in Holy Communion, have a baptism, and receive new members.  The Handbell and Chancel Choir will be on hand for their last musical offerings of the season and we’ll  celebrate the gifts of the Holy Spirit, activated the newly baptized, our new members, and all of us, on this spirited and Spirit-filled Sunday!

Pentecost derives its name from the Jewish festival celebrating the harvest and the giving of the law on Mount Sinai fifty days after Passover. Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the Holy Spirit as God’s presence within and among us. In Acts the Spirit arrives in rushing wind and flame, bringing God’s presence to all people. Paul reminds us that though we each have different capacities, we are unified in the Spirit that equips us with these gifts. Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit on his disciples, empowering them to forgive sin. We celebrate that we too are given the breath of the Holy Spirit and sent out to proclaim God’s redeeming love to all the world.

Follow this link to the online bulletin if you’re joining us for the 9am Livestream.

Thank You:  Our thanks to Philip Daniel Pratt, who had his maiden voyage as our newest worship assistant, this past Sunday.  It’s so lovely to see a talented young person take up the mantle of being an Assisting Minister.  He is pictured above with his father and grandfather, making Sunday’s 8am worship assistants an entirely Phil Pratt affair!  Many thanks to the Phils! Thanks also to our Sunday School Staff and families for another wonderful year of instruction and fellowship.  Sunday School concluded for its summer hiatus this past Sunday.  Special thanks to April Phares, for her most excellent leadership.  Thanks also Roxanne Achenbach and Imogene Kresge for baking delicious items for our Election Day Bake Sale, and to Kathy Sigley and Kate Vakiener for manning our little stand.  Things went very smoothly for our first outing as an election site.

Mulch Day:  Join us this coming Saturday, May 23, beginning at 9am, as we pull weeds and mulch the church’s many flower beds.  Please bring your favorite garden tools and we’ll provide the mulch.  Many hands make light work!

Calling Graduates: If your child (or grandchild) is graduating from high school, college, or trade school, and is a member of our congregation, we’d love to share their good news in the Weekly.  Please email the office (trinityhecktown@gmail.com) with the following information:

  1. Their name.
  2. The school from which they are graduating.
  3. Any special honors/activities they’d like to share.
  4. What’s next (college, grad school, a job)?
  5. If you’d like to include a photo, that’d be magnificent.

We will share info about the graduates as they’re received by the office.  Many thanks!

Young at Heart: On Tuesday, June 23, we’ll be visited by the Officer Schippang of the Colonial Regional Police K9 Unit, as well as one of his charges, to discuss/demonstrate how K9 units assist with investigations.  Attendees are asked to bring a brown bag lunch.  The event will begin at noon.  Please RSVP to Kathy.

A sign-up is available for our annual outing to the Iron Pigs, which will take place on Sunday, July 12. The gates open at 12pm, food starts at 1pm (and runs to 3:30), the game starts at 1:30. We’ll be on the Party Porch.  The cost of the tickets will be $40 which includes the game, food, and drinks.  Please sign up by May 31 when all money is due.  Checks may be made available to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Thank you!

Strawberry Festival, June 27: This year’s Festival will be held in our air-conditioned Fellowship Hall (the new units barely blink at hot temperatures!), and will feature music by The Majestics.  We’re seeking donations of baked goods and items for the tricky tray.  For more information, please see Kathy Sigley.  The Festival will be from 4-9pm.

May Joyful Giving – Pink Heals:  Pink Heals is a program that partners with public safety organizations, local businesses, and families to bring the community together. The organization provides home visits to show individuals that they are loved, cherished, and important to others. You may give in the basket in the Narthex, on the Vanco app, or on the giving page of our website.  We will also receive a collection at the 9am service on May 31.

VBS registration is open for 2026! Join us from July 13-17, from 9am – Noon, and step through the mist into Rainforest Falls, overflowing with wild waterfalls, towering trees and colorful creatures. Beneath a canopy of chattering birds and howling monkeys, kids plunge into a life-long adventure, discovering the nature of God, and exploring what it means to be rooted in relationship with their creator, a safe place in life’s storms.  We are in need of many volunteers for a successful week. New this year, volunteers can also sign up through the registration link. Volunteers and attendees can register through this link.
