Please join us for worship on Sixth Sunday of Easter, May 10 – we’ll have two services of Holy Communion this week, at 8 and 10:30am, with fellowship time at 9,  and Sunday School and Adult Bible Study at 9:15.  The 10:30 service will be livestreamed.  Pam Kalapay will be on hand with her guitar and whistles at the 10:30 service, the Sunday School Students will be sharing a musical offering, and we’ll have a special blessing for mothers.

Jesus does not abandon his followers. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus comes to abide with his disciples of every generation. As Pentecost draws near, we are reminded that the risen Christ dwells in us as the Spirit of truth. We receive this Spirit in baptism and pray that, in our gathering around the Lord’s table, the Spirit will transform us to be the body of the risen Christ in the world.

Follow this link to the online bulletin if you’re joining us for the 10:30am Livestream.

Thank You:  Many thanks are due to all the volunteers who made last weekend’s Social Ministry Rummage Sale our largest ever, with proceeds numbering around $4,500.  This was the last sale coordinated by Kathy Sigley, to whom we say, “Servant, well done!”  But, it was a labor of love by so many souls – the number of volunteer hours spent sorting and pricing is staggering.  Our deep thanks to each of you, and to everyone who supported the sale in any way.  We’re also grateful for our Sunday School Staff, whom we recognized during the 10:30am service, last Sunday.  When we listed our volunteers in the bulletin and in the Weekly, we unintentionally omitted Bron Sheriff, who does an exceptional job leading our Adult Sunday School class – our apologies to Bron and a tip of the hat for your wonderful leadership!

In Memoriam: Frances Faust. On Sunday morning, we shared the news of the passing of Frances Faust, a longtime and treasured member of Trinity.  Her funeral will be held tomorrow, Friday, May 8, with a calling hour at 10am, followed by her funeral service at 11.  Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall.   Please follow this link to her obituary.

Franny Faust was a dear friend and an exemplary parishioner.  Her obituary makes mention of her abiding interest in travel, and that was something that reflected her natural curiosity for all sorts of things (and made her a pretty reliable source of intel about the goings on of both the parish and the greater Hecktown community at large). She was possessed of a large heart – her care, concern, and empathy for everyone were part of the aura that surrounded her, and earned her the moniker “The Mayor of Hecktown.”  From the beauty parlor to her work, from the auxiliary of the fire house, to all of the committees on which she served at church, the number of souls in her irresistible orbit was large.  Often, she would ask visitors to sit with her at worship.  The stories of trips she organized are legend.  Her love for her family was abiding, and she was part of a sort of phone chain of dear friends here at church.

I was lucky to receive calls from her in the office, from her checking in, offering to organize help for bulletin and newsletter preparation, to just to see what was going on.   On one occasion, she asked if she could come along on one of our trips to Longwood Gardens, and the Amy, Franny, and I had a hoot.  On another, she she suggested that she would like to accompany us on a trip into Manhattan, and we happily obliged, enjoying a wonderful afternoon and evening with her and her stalwart and loving  daughter in law, Eileen (whose constancy and care for Frances, especially towards her end, is truly inspiring).  Franny reveled in some shopping on Fifth Avenue, endured a very fancy church service,  followed by a joyful meal.  We had such a blast.  She suffered the loss of her husband, two sons, and many of her dearest friends with grace and acceptance.

One imagines her heavenly welcoming committee, full of souls now on that distant shore.  Many of us know their names – so many Saints of Trinity whose care and concern for one another were examples of the particular kind of Christian love of their generation in this place.  The thought of them reunited gives great consolation.  That said, her loss to us here is felt acutely – I will miss that sweet voice on the phone, the glimmer in her eyes, her gentle laugh, all the conversations while folding bulletins and during newsletter preparation, peppered with her occasional spicy comments and much love.  May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
