Please join us for worship, fellowship, and Christian Education this Sunday, November 24, Christ the King Sunday. We’ll have a service of Holy Communion at 8am, followed by fellowship at 9, Sunday School at 9:15, and a second Service of Holy Communion at 10:30, in the sanctuary and online. We’ll be receiving new members at the late service, we’ll hear a rousing anthem from the women of the Festival Choir, and a jaunty piece from our Handbells. Christ the King Sunday is the last Sunday of the church year – we intend to conclude in fine liturgical style!
Even after Israel had experienced the vagaries of kings, the people still longed for a true king to set things right. He would have the king’s title of Anointed One (Messiah); he would be the “one like a human being” (Son of Man) given dominion in Daniel’s vision. Jesus is given these titles, even though he is nothing like an earthly king. His authority comes from the truth to which he bears witness, and those who recognize the truth voluntarily listen to him. We look forward to the day he is given dominion, knowing his victory will be the nonviolent victory of love.

Thank you! Many thanks Janet Belovich for crafting and inserting new hymnal page keepers in the hymnals. We are retiring the ones that Ginny Bakos made for us when we acquired the new hymnals (many, many moons ago). Those have aged as one might expect, and are grateful to Janet for her work in replacing them. Many thanks to Janet, and thanks be to God for the life and witness of Ginny! Thanks, also, to everyone who cooked for our Young at Heart Friendsgiving, and to Kathy Sigley for coordinating. A marvelous time was had by all!
