Please join us for worship, fellowship, and Christian Education this Sunday, September 29, the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost: Harvest Home Sunday. We will have services of Holy Communion at 8 and 10:30am, with fellowship at 9, and Sunday School for all ages at 9:15.  The 10:30am service will be livestreamed.  Come see the church decked out in its harvest finery!  There will also be an opportunity to contribute to the Nazareth Area Food Bank with our Joyful Giving offering.

Someone who isn’t part of Jesus’ own circle is casting out demons in Jesus’ name, and the disciples want him stopped. They appeal to Jesus, as Joshua did to Moses about the elders who prophesied without official authorization. Like Moses, Jesus refuses to see this as a threat. Jesus welcomes good being done in his name, even when it is not under his control. The circle we form around Jesus’ word must be able to value good being done in ways we wouldn’t do it, by people we can’t keep tabs on.

Thank you! Thanks to Pastor Spencer for his presentation on Spiritual Practices at yesterday’s Young at Heart Luncheon.  Thanks also to the members of our Music Ministry for the resumption of their work in the past few weeks.  We’re excited about the music we’ll be making to God’s glory!  Thanks also to all of our soup artisans (Editor’s note:  we’ve twice had soup in the last week – this year’s batch seems especially delicious!)!  Last Thursday went very smoothly, besides an unrelated fire alarm issue that caused a brief evacuation (apparently a dead battery in one of our new smoke detectors).  The Soup Sale is a labor of love on many levels, and, as we said last week, the Lutherans of Hecktown will be eating well in the coming weeks, thanks to the hard work of our volunteers!

All of the rest of this week’s announcements can be found in our Weekly Email.  Please follow this link for the most recent message and an archive of past installments.  The Weekly is published on Thursdays, by noon.
