Please join us this coming Sunday, March 24, as we observe Palm/Passion Sunday. We’ll have a Service of Holy Communion in the Sanctuary at 8am, followed by Fellowship Time at 9, Sunday School for all ages at 9:15, then a Service of Holy Communion in the Sanctuary and Online at 10:30.
This week, the center of the church’s year, is one of striking contrasts: Jesus rides into Jerusalem surrounded by shouts of glory, only to be left alone to die on the cross, abandoned by even his closest friends. Mark’s gospel presents Jesus in his complete human vulnerability: agitated, grieved, scared, forsaken. Though we lament Christ’s suffering and all human suffering, we also expect God’s salvation: in the wine and bread, Jesus promises that his death will mark a new covenant with all people. We enter this holy week thirsty for the completion of God’s astonishing work.

Thank you: Thanks to all those who participated in a number of behind-the-scenes meetings and rehearsals as we approach Holy Week. The Festival Choir has been rehearsing diligently through most of Lent, as has the Handbell Choir. The Christian Education Committee met to discuss upcoming business. We’ve had a consistently good attendance at our Midweek Lenten events – delicious soup and delightful fellowship, followed by meaningful worship. Last night’s gathering was the last of this year’s series. The fruits of many labors will be evident in the coming weeks, all to God’s glory!
